Escape Pain - Hip & Knee OA Services YSTH
Descriptions
The Trust is seeking to award a contract for the delivery of the "Escape Pain" program for managing lower limb osteoarthritis in local community locations as part of the MSK Community Services workstream.
It is anticipated that up to 160 OA hip and kneed patients will be referred to the provider over the initial 12 months.
The provider must be based within North Yorkshire with suitably certified staff in the local area of the Trust to deliver the services in community settings in a number of locations across York or sites as required by the Trust. All staff delivering the program must have attended official "Escape Pain" training and hold course certificates.
The provider must be able to adhere to the core tenets of the programme - X2 sessions per week over 6 weeks, each session to include combined education & exercise guidance; participants start & end program together; facilitators trained to deliver the program by centralised team. Classes should be offered weekdays and weekends as may be required by the Trust. The provider must be able to contribute to the "ESCAPE" centralised audit.
Appropriate professional/clinical insurance cover must be provided
Performance Metrics & KPIs
• Patients continuing with class once initial sessions have expired: TARGET = 75% of referrals
• Mean Improvements in Knee OA Outcome Score (KOOS) post course
• Mean Improvements in Hip OA Outcome Score (HOOS) post course
• Mean improvements in Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS) post course
Quality Standards
The service provider must:
• Participate in ongoing audit and quality improvement.
• Ensure all personnel have up-to-date training in data protection and clinical governance.
• Have documented policies and practices with regard to staff vetting, patient safeguarding, etc..
Information Governance and Data Security
The provider must:
• Comply with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and NHS Digital IG Toolkit standards.
• Have in place a secure audit trail for data access and reporting activity.
Governance and Oversight
• Regular contract review meetings to be performed quarterly
• Joint audit processes with the commissioning body.
• Named clinical leads from both parties to oversee collaboration.
• Referral process must integrate with existing NHS system.
The target start date for the contract is in November 2025 with an initial term of 12 months and option to extend the contract for 2 further periods of 6 months each.
