Fencing Difficult to Access and Hazard Sites in South Wales

Forestry Commission Wales is inviting tenders for the fencing of fourteen sites throughout the Coed y Cymoedd District to prevent access to hazards and quarry sites or to exclude stock from sites which are difficult to access. (further sites may be added during the course of the contract)A number of these sites have limited or no vehicle access and are comprised of former quarries, mine entrances, and steep rockface edges. A mixture of post-and-rail or post-and-wire (stock type) fencing is required, installed to FCW standard specification. There are two lots which will be awarded as separate contracts. Companies may bid for 1 or 2 lots.Lot 1 is in the valley between 'The Bwlch' on A 4107 and Blaengwynfi (Afan Valley) and comprises approx 3000m of fencing and 1750m of fence removal. The approximate value is £30,000.Lot 2 is 13 sites across south Wales and comprises approx 2700m of fencing. The approximate value is £19,000.Location / constraints maps of all sites and fencing specification details will be supplied on CD in electronic format when requesting details of this contract. The contract life is for 14 months and the estimated total value of the contract could be up to £49,000.Lot 1 Will commence November 2011, phase one is due for completion by 28th February 2012 and phase 2 is due for completion by 31st December 2012.Lot 2 Will commence November 2011 and the initial 13 sites are due for completion by 28th February 2012 with any additional sites due for completion by 31st December 2012.
