GP Patient Survey

The GP Patient Survey (GPPS) seeks the views of over two and a half million people every year about their experience of GP services and NHS dentistry. It produces an extensive database that can be used by a wide range of stakeholders for developing services and policies to improve patient experience. The survey is sent out physically to patients in January and July. This is a very high profile survey, which the Secretary of State, and other DH Ministers have a high level of interest in. It is the biggest survey of its kind, and is used to collect data on a wide range of issues in addition to its primary focus on GP practices. The results of the survey are an official statistic, and are used to inform the NHS England. •The specific requirements for potential suppliers will be to manage and operate the GPPS, including: oQuestionnaire Redesign: To review the current survey and ensure the questions reflect priority and patient need (to ensure relevancy, quality and value) oSampling and Cognitive Testing of Questionnaire: Testing of the questionnaire for patient understanding, applicability and reliability etc. oFieldwork: Running the survey via post, managing the phone-line and translation survey in 13 languages (incl. British Sigh Language). oData analysis, communications and reporting: To collate, analyse and publish results at a national and local level, and make these available for NHS England and the public. oStakeholder management: To manage the telephone helpline services.
