Gwent Crematorium Mercury Abatement Building

Descriptions

The proposed works at the Gwent Crematorium will comprise of a two storey extension with both flat and pitched roofs to the rear of the building. The extension will provide space for a new mercury abatement plant to be supplied and installed by a specialist contractor engaged separately by the employer. There will also be alterations to the existing building which will be broken into at ground and first floor levels and the existing flues to the flat roof will be removed. The extension will allow for the creation of two service yards to both ends and an existing low wall with fencing providing storage space to the area will also need to be removed. An existing covered walkway will be re routed to the opposite side of the rear road, along with any paths and crossing points that will be required. The construction of the building will have to be phased to accommodate the installation of the abatement plant by the specialist contractor.
