Descriptions
The contract isfor the provision of a suitable backhoe dredger to excavate approximately 112 trial pits for others to take samples and analyse. The trial pits lie within the current navigation channel and harbour areas of the ports of Harwich and Felixstowe. Trial pits will be approximately 500 m apart and a maximum of 2.0 m deep. Excavated material will be replaced on the bed and levelled by the dredger. The contract includes the provision of any work boat required and a suitable tug to position the dredger. The dredger will be required to excavate to a level of -16,5 m CD and there is a maximum tide level of 4,3 m.
