HGV Blind Spot and Moving Off Systems technology assessment

Descriptions

Within International Vehicle Standard's work at the United Nations five new regulations have been developed to enhance Vulnerable Road User's (VRU) safety around HGVs. This included Regulation 151 Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS) to detect cyclists and Regulation 159 on Moving Off Information Systems (MOIS).

These systems are designed to detect a cyclist or VRUs alongside and in front of an HGV respectively, who might otherwise be missed when the driver is checking using mirrors or camera monitor systems (CMS) or through direct vision.
