Innovative Development Partner for the Porthcawl Maritime Centre

Porthcawl Harbourside CIC is working in collaboration with Bridgend County Borough Council. They are seeking to secure a number of new infrastructure projects along the Porthcawl coastline. A central element of this package will be the construction and operation of Porthcawl Harbourside CIC’s new build ‘flagship’ Maritime Centre on land adjacent to the Porthcawl Marina, known as Cosy Corner. The signature building will meet BREEAM Excellent standard and comprise a mixed use development on five levels.Facilities will include a new ‘Coastal Science and Discovery Centre’, establish the Welsh headquarters and training institute for the Welsh Surfing Federation which will also include a range of health facilities, a nautical theme conference suite for shared use by the Sea Cadets, a range of individual and shared office and meeting rooms to co-locate Porthcawl’s Maritime Organisations and a high quality ‘training’ Café Bar and Bistro in partnership with Bridgend College.A community hub will offer residents and visitors a range of internal and external benefits which will include a new Visitor Information Centre where visitors can access and plan Borough wide activity breaks, community membership lounge facilities, particularly aimed at tackling loneliness.
