The Council of the Borough of Kirklees (the "Council") wishes to develop further it's approach to the coordination and development of learning English for English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) in Kirklees, ensuring those who want to learn and develop their English language skills can do so within the resources available locally. In October 2019 Kirklees Council working in collaboration with a voluntary sector organisation, Third Sector Leaders, developed a pilot approach 'This Way For English' (TW4E) as a result of funding from the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government, Kirklees Council wants to develop this approach further. Kirklees Council in collaboration with the TW4E delivery partner will work across services, learning providers, employment support providers to develop a robust coordinated ESOL offer. This is to ensure those who need to start their ESOL journey or develop their English languages skills further to a point where they can connect with their neighbours, local networks and groups, access services independently and importantly progress on to further learning and gain employment.The approximate total value for these services will be £220,000 for the entire two (2) years duration of the programme (April 2021 to March 2023) with a provision to extend for two (2) further periods of twelve (12) months, subject to further funding being approved and based on successful performance.
