The Department of Biosciences within the College of Sciences at Swansea University is in the process of setting up a containment Level 2 research laboratory suitable to work with agents in Hazard Group 2 [i.e., agents that can cause human disease and may be a hazard to employees, although they are unlikely to spread to the community]. The purposes of this laboratory will include, but are not limited to, carrying out environmental sampling, examining host-pathogen interactions, studying the molecular basis of Hazard Group 2 organisms, delving into the ecology and evolution of Hazard Group 2 infectious agents, and screening for novel antimicrobial compounds and therapeutics. This research laboratory will be available for researchers in the Department of Biosciences whose work needs Containment Level 2; therefore, the need to acquire equipment for this specific research space. Swansea University will require one supplier to supply ALL lab equipment and glassware detailed within the specification.
