Library's Digital Asset Management System
Descriptions
LSE Digital Library is a valued asset of the LSE Library, providing digital stewardship and presentation of unique source material for enquiry-based learning, research practice and original research both within the School and beyond. It is the platform that enables access to a growing selection of material drawn from LSE Library holdings, whilst storing its digital assets in a digital preservation environment that ensures file integrity and security. Digital assets and their metadata are uploaded to the system and managed by Digital Library Team and Archives & Special Collections Team staff. The current Digital Library System solution contains c.36,000 digital objects, approximately 12TB in preservation storage, and 1.5TB of access copy storage, compiled over the last 7-8 years, primarily from digitisation of LSE Library holdings. There are strategic ambitions to scale up LSE's in-house digitisation, upload more multi-media files, and born-digital records, so expect to increase the Digital Library's size by approximately 5-8TB over the next 4 years.
