Llandudno Museum Development Project: Appointment of Architect

Llandudno Museum is at the start of an exciting project to create a fit-for-purpose facility that will enable more people to experience and engage with our collections and the stories they tell. In line with its vision, an Initial Design Brief has been prepared and the Museum now wishes to appoint an Architect to develop architectural design proposals in response to the brief up to RIBA Stage B (as defined by the RIBA Outline Plan of Work 2007 and now Stage 1 of the RIBA Plan of Work 2013). The Architect's report will inform and be integrated into the development of a First Round application and request for a Development Grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to enable the design proposals to be further developed to RIBA Stage E (now Stage 4) and which, if approved, will form the basis of a Second Round application: it will also be used for applications to other potential grant funding sources and sponsors.Specific project deliverables to accompany the First Round Application to the HLF will include:- Consideration of potential options for development;- Early concept idea(s) and indicative spatial plans and a brief design statement stating how the Design Brief could be met;- Breakdown of fees for development of the architectural design proposals and management of the architectural design team, including the appointment of specialist contractors, from RIBA Stage C to Stage L inclusive;- Estimated capital cost of the project;- An outline programme;- Initial Risk Assessment.For Stage C onwards, it is anticipated that the architect will be responsible for the appointment and management of the architectural design team, including any specialist contractors such as structural or mechanical engineers, Quantity Surveyors etc. It is intended that a specialist museum exhibition design team will be commissioned to assist with the development of proposals to fit out the exhibition galleries together with other specialist consultants as appropriateNOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=2650.
