Market Engagement for the provision of care and support for extra care services

Descriptions

Gateshead Council are holding an online Market Engagement Event on team's which will take place on Monday 18th August 10:30 to 11:30am for the provision of care and support for extra care services.

Gateshead Council (the Council) is in the process of renewing its Contract for the Provision of care and support for Angel and Callendar Court Extra Care services.

As part of this process the Council is conducting an early Market Engagement Exercise to establish the level of interest in this opportunity, to gather information and improve our understanding of the market.

Suppliers are invited to consider the inquiries detailed within this Market Engagement Questionnaire and complete the questionnaire in Section Two.

Suppliers are also invited to attend an early Market Engagement Event on Monday 18th August 2025 where we will discuss the current feedback we are receiving around Extra Care and potential model options. This will be an opportunity for the market to provide feedback and help develop the future model.

Please note: this is a feedback and model development session. It will not give an overview of how the proposed Contract will operate and what interested Providers will need to do to participate in the procurement process. This will be discussed at a later Market Engagement event.

There will also be the opportunity for Providers to book onto individual sessions with the Council to provide any further feedback or questions not already discussed in the session.

The Council is looking to review and re-commission the care and support contract for Angel and Callendar Court Extra Care settings.

Angel Court is a 45 two bed scheme located in Harlow Green with the registered housing provider being the Council. Callendar Court is a 40 one bed and two bed scheme located in Beacon Lough Estate.

As a borough, Gateshead have an increasing ageing population. In addition, the number of people living with dementia is also increasing. There is a need to ensure the new care and support contract is able to support this increasing need, with the ethos of supporting residents to remain independent, remain in their own home and reduce the reliance on residential care.
