National Film and Television School — Phase 2 The Digital Village.

The National Film and Television School wishes to expand and therefore is looking at building two new Teaching facilities to cater for the increased number of students and to replace old and out of date modular buildings. Buildings will contain, cafe space, traditional teaching spaces, specialist editing facilities, mini theatre, dubbing suite and a recording studio. The Contracting Authority has engaged the services of a design team to develop proposals. These are currently progressing to RIBA Stage 3 (old Stage E) and the proposal has been submitted for planning to the local authority. The Contracting Authority has also engaged an Approved Inspector with the intention of receiving building control approval prior to tender period. The form of contract will be a JCT 2011 Design and Build contract with amendments.The core team comprises Glenn Howells Architects (Architect), Buro Happold (Structural, Civil and Services Engineer), TPS Consult Ltd (Cost Consultant), Absolute Health and Safety (CDMC).The main construction works will be developed in 2 phases:— The Lodge — to commence September 2015 (estimated),— The Teaching Block — to commence May 2016 (estimated) once existing accommodation has decanted to the Lodge,— The school is to remain operational for the duration of the works.The project will proceed to tender only if Planning Approval is obtained and if funding is in place which it is expected to be within the timescales quoted.
