The council is looking to award a contract to provide, install and maintain a selection of indoor and outdoor electronic displays, primarily located at bus stops and transport interchanges.Electronic signage is installed at bus stops and transport interchanges to provide scheduled and live travel information. It is the intention to increase the number of electronic screens in Norwich and at other locations across Norfolk to enable consistent and accessible information to be displayed.Suppliers are required to ensure that screens can display content generated from the Norfolk County Council Electronic Passenger Information (EPI) system provided by Region Services Limited (RSL). The supplier is required to advise how they would expect to integrate with the EPI software; it is expected that suppliers will contact RSL directly to ensure full integration with the EPI system is achieved.The key requirements of Norfolk County Council related to screen content from the EPI system are as follows:- Consistent messaging is achieved across signage such that any message entered into the EPI is transmitted and shown across signage. It is a key requirement that any message should only be entered once into the EPI system without the need to enter this multiple times into different systems to cater for all new signage;- Manual amendments made to scheduled departure information, such as through the input of delays and cancellations, should be displayed on appropriate signage;- Departure times for services should be shown either as minutes to departure (eg. XX mins for live departure information) or scheduled departure time;- All travel information will be from a single data source to avoid multiple data sources being used;- Any video and images (if applicable to sign type) will be handled through a single upload/data entry without the need for multiple entries to different systems;Following installation, there should be no requirement for signage to be removed and/or opened for the purposes of installing any hardware or software related to integration with the EPI system.All signage should be capable to being remotely monitored by Norfolk County Council in terms of the following:- Identifying whether the screen is physically displaying an output;- Identifying whether the screen is communicating with a data feed;- Ability to remotely reboot the screen as a means of possible fault rectification.
