Picton Castle Trust is seeking suitably experienced and qualified building and conservation contractors to carry out sensitive conservation, repair and construction to the Grade II range of outbuildings and walled garden.While detail and specifications are attached to this notice and other plans and drawings available on request; as part of the overall project the contract will:Repair the walls and structures externally and internally in the range of outbuilding within the walled garden areas, including roofing, underpinning of gardener’s office etc.Restore the very fine wrought iron gates and iron works.Repair, consolidate and restore areas of wall and post that are damaged or have collapsed.Repair, consolidate and restore the gardener's office, bothy, store, fernery, potting sheds and range of buildings that abut the walled garden, bringing them back in to sustainable re-use.provide one heritage glass house (an appropriate heritage replica based on records) in the courtyard garden as part of the working attraction and circulation space.Remove modern but ruined glass house and replace with heritage replica and reuse original green house and cold frame bases as raised beds.Remove old sheds to provide a composting space and provide some new sheds, protection and space for garden implements.In order to supply the services required effectively the successful tender will need to demonstrate:1. Experience of construction/building and conservation repair using appropriate methods ( lime/hot works etc.) and other work relevant to this tender and working with protected structures of similar historical importance.2. An appreciation of the architectural significance of the structures and their importance.3. The ability and resources to mobilise and support the site team and provide the necessary skills and expertise to fulfil the contract.4. Preparedness to work constructively with the Trust during the course of the project, fulfilling the Trust’s vision for the project and the ongoing public access that the gardens promote5. Employer, Public Liability and Indemnity Insurance required and details and levels and those of Health and Safety policies should also be provided as specified.6. The proposal should state when the team will be able to start work and indicate when it will be completed (as per programme) and confirm that it has the resources to do this.7. Provide three examples of relevant previous work and references.8. All tenderers will be expected to visit the site.
