Powys County Council on behalf of the Powys Regeneration Partnership welcomes expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced organisations to implement, manage and deliver a Farm Diversification project under the Rural Development Plan.The Wales Rural Development Plan (RDP) is an European programme that is operational during the programming period - 2007 - 2013. There are 4 Axes of activity within the programme; with the Welsh Assembly Government administering Axis 1 and 2 on a National basis, and local Partnerships implementing Axis 3 and 4 activites in their local area. Powys County Council on behalf of the Powys Regeneration Partnership have applied to the Welsh Assembly Governement for the following project under Axis 3 of the RDP.Farm Diversification Scheme is a strategic project to develop the agricultural sector in Powys into a dynamic and competitive sector. The Scheme will provide farming families with the tools to investigate non-agricultural activities, which will develop alternative sources of sustainable income; in order to both safeguard their future and contribute to the long term sustainability of their local community. The key aims of the project will be to:•Providing a broader range of better paid jobs.•Help raise the economic activity rates.•Enhancing additional mainstream services to the rural economy.The project will deliver a grant scheme to support the sustainable diversification options for farming families in order to allow traditional farming practices to continue, as well as workshops and events that will develop and nurture business ideas.
