Pre-op Consent Transformation - User Centred Design
Descriptions
Since July 2020 NHSE/I have been running a dynamic, fast paced programme to focus on the elective backlog to aid recovery of elective services post Covid. The programme is centered on six surgical specialties (orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, ENT, gynaecology and general surgery) plus anaesthesia and peri-operative care. In the summer of 2020, the clinical community of London came together and agreed 29 standardised pathways. The next phase of the Elective Recovery High Volume Low Complexity (HVLC) programme is seeking to understand the issues in the current Pre-Operative pathways, and to create a best practice pathway with established metrics which will support London's progression to digitised consent and pre-operative assessments Working with the Elective Recovery HVLC team and our digital collegues, we are seeking a partner to scope the current issues of the consenting and pre-operative processes across London and to gather intelligence on the essential and the desirable criteria for any future digitised solution to either (and both) consent and pre-operative assessment. This will generate a clinical specification, with users at the heart as well as generating a design plan for undertaking transformational change within the Pre-operative assessment process.
