Provision of Digital Workshops for Hwb Arloesi in Porthmadog (Gwynedd)

Descriptions

The 'LEADER' programme in Gwynedd is being administered by Menter Môn in their office in Porthmadog (Arloesi Gwynedd Wledig Programme). Menter Môn is a social enterprise with 20 years of experience in providing rural development projects across North Wales and is responsible for administering both projects LEADER in Gwynedd and Anglesey.Arloesi Gwynedd Wledig are currently piloting a project called the ‘Hwb Arloesi’ which is based on the Indycube co-working model. Essentially the project aims to demonstrate that the co-working model, which has already been successful in South Wales, can be emulated in rural areas such as Gwynedd. The service offers users hot-desking facilities, superfast internet and refreshments on a pay as you go basis. The Porthmadog Indycube or ‘Hwb Arloesi’ is located at the Ganolfan in Porthmadog (LL49 9LU) a short distance from the harbour. Arleosi Gwynedd Wledig currently lease two rooms at the Ganolfan for use of the project. One room contains 5 desks and chairs for hot-desking and the other room is a small meeting room. There is connection to Superfast Broadband in the rooms, which ensures that the model appeals to the broadest examples of self-employed businesses in the area, including those requiring large download / upload speed such as those in the creative sector. Now that the initial set-up of the Indycube in Porthmadog is completed and has been running for 10 months, we are eager to create a programme of events which offer the opportunity for people to have access to workshops which facilitate creativity and entrepreneurship.Engaging directly with a variety of groups such as business owners, new start-ups, young people and the elderly would allow us to tailor the programme of workshops to current requirements, and may include opportunities to network, learn from peers and develop businesses/ interests. Some suggestions for the Workshops are:•Make a space workshops for making and fixing things.•Coding workshops for young people.•TEDTalks/ Inspiring talks• Drop-in sessions for the digitally excluded.• Computer seminars targeted for the agricultural sector.More information about the Indycube co-working model here: https://www.indycube.community/More information about the Porthmadog Indycube here:http://www.arloesigwyneddwledig.com/gweithgareddau/prosiectau/thema-2/hwb-arloesi-porthmadog/?lang=en2.1 The FacilitatorWe are looking to commission local freelance facilitator to arrange, and deliver workshops in our Indycube space in Porthmadog.
