Venue required for BEACON Conference - May 2014IntroductionBEACON is a £20m EU-backed programme to develop sustainable products and services using plant crops grown in Wales.Aberystwyth University’s Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Science (IBERS) is leading the BEACON programme, backed with £10.6m European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, in collaboration with its partners at Bangor and Swansea Universities. It aims to establish Wales as a Bio-refining Centre of Excellence and make a vital contribution to tackling climate change and support the green economy by working with companies to convert crops into products including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, fuels, cosmetics and textiles.BackgroundBEACON is committed to holding an annual one day conference in the vicinity of its partner institutions once each during the lifetime of the project. We are currently seeking a suitable venue for 2014.Requirements•Accessible conference room for in the region of 150 delegates•Use of laptop, projector, infra-red pointer, screen, flipchart, lectern.•Use of suitable sound system/microphones (presentations; questions from the floor; session Chair etc).•Access to room prior to conference for set-up•Tea/coffee and biscuits (or similar) on arrival, mid-morning and mid-afternoon•Buffet lunch•Separate room for food and possible breakout sessions desirable•Good access via road and public transport; airport access desirable (preferably within around 10 mile radius of Swansea University)•Adequate parking•Situated in Wales•Availability of overnight accommodation on site or very nearbyIn 2014 we are seeking to hold the conference during May.Responses preferred please from Hotels and Conference Venues rather than third party providers in order to allow for flexibility in case last minute changes are necessary eg room bookings, facilities and catering arrangements.
