NSS has appointed a Private Sector Partner in the form of Seacole National Centre Limited, to participate and invest in a National Centre for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service ('SNBTS') ('the Project').The Project involves the design, build, finance and maintenance of the SNBTS National Centre with an overall capital value of approximately GBP 36 000 000 which includes design team fees, group 1 equipment and group 2 transfer costs and excludes all other equipment and VAT. This is to be delivered under Scottish Futures Trust's Non-Profit Distributing (NPD) model which is the form of public-private partnership preferred by the Scottish Government. The Project site is within the Heriot-Watt University Research Park in Riccarton, Edinburgh.Once complete, the Project will provide SNBTS with a pharmaceutical grade manufacturing facility that will allow SNBTS to guarantee on-going blood, tissue and cell services for patients in Scotland, the flexibility to implement future safety measures in a timely and cost effective manner and the ability to continue to meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.
