2207-SF-N - Framework for the provision of Safe pass Tutor programme Development, Training and System Implementation

Descriptions

SOLAS through its Construction Unit in Castleforbes Road Dublin develops, evaluates, and implements, the SOLAS Safe Pass programme. AimsThe SOLAS Safe Pass Health and Safety Awareness Training Programme is to ensure that, over the course of time, all workers in construction will have a basic knowledge of health and safety and be able to work on-site without being a risk to themselves or others who might be affected by their acts or omissions. From a health and safety perspective, construction workers are bound by law to hold a valid Safe Pass card. The aims of the programme are focused mainly on health and safety awareness, while the benefits include an improved safety culture. There are a number of different modules making up the Safe Pass Course Content.Part 1, Section 4 of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 provides details on the categories of workers that require a SOLAS Safety Awareness Registration Card. Construction apprentices registered under the Standards Based Apprenticeship Scheme, and trainees undergoing traineeships in the Construction Industry are also required to have a Safety Awareness Registration Card.In order to achieve the objectives, set by the Social Partners and the Construction Industry Group, it is important that the SOLAS Safe Pass Programme is delivered by accredited Safe Pass Tutors to a consistent standard. The delivery of the Programme to this consistent standard will ensure that all workers in Construction will receive the same standard of Health and Safety training and will use this knowledge to improve safety practice on site. With this in mind SOLAS are seeking expressions of interest in the on-going development, training, systems implementation, and delivery of the SOLAS Safe Pass Tutor Programme.
