Supply of Single Cylinder Research Engines for Zero Carbon Fuels
Descriptions
Brunel University London is currently inviting tenders for the supply and delivery of two singlecylinderresearch engines to be used for the research and development of combustion and engine controlechnologies for zero carbon fuels. The Requirement has been split into two Lots; Lot 1- A single cylinderresearch engine for heavy good vehicles application Lot 2 - A single cylinder research engine for marineapplication Tenderers can bid for any of the two Lots or both. The Potential Supplier will be expected toprovide (or be able to provide access to) pre-sales technical advice and support, and have a goodunderstanding of the key features and aspects of the equipment they are selling to the University.Proposals should be based on the following technical requirements; Technical Specification (1) Lot 1- Asingle cylinder research engine for heavy good vehicles application The engine should meet belowspecifications Number of cylinders [-] Single cylinder Number of valves per cylinder [-] 4 (2 intake valvesand 2 exhaust valves) Number of strokes [-] 4 Range of cylinder bore [mm] 130 – 150 Range of cylinderstroke [mm] 150 – 180 Range of compression ratio [-] 12 - 16 Range of rated engine power [kW] > 60Range of rated engine speed [rpm] > 1000 Range of peak engine torque [N·m] > 300 Range of peakcylinder pressure [bar] > 150 Fuel system hydrogen, ammonia (2) Lot 2 - A single cylinder research enginefor marine application The engine should meet below specifications: Number of cylinders [-] Singlecylinder Number of valves per cylinder [-] 4 (2 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves) Number of strokes [-] 4Range of cylinder bore [mm] 180 – 200 Range of cylinder stroke [mm] 200 – 230 Range of compressionratio [-] > 12 Range of rated engine power [kW] > 100 Range of rated engine speed [rpm] > 1000 Rangeof peak engine torque [N·m] > 800 Range of peak cylinder pressure [bar] > 150 Fuel system hydrogen, ammonia with pilot liquid fuel injection The provided single-cylinder research engines should haveignition systems, fuel injection systems, coolant systems and lubricant oil systems so that they can beconnected to external systems in test cells at Brunel engine lab. Relevant services should be included;Training Technical Support Delivery, Commissioning, Installation and Acceptance
