Synchrotron Roof Replacement

Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire. The synchrotron building is the circular building which accommodates the storage ring and beamlines. The existing roof is an aluminium standing seam roof system, which is starting to deteriorate due to thermal movement. The total roof area is approximately 32 000 m Diamond plans to replace the existing aluminium standing seam roof to the synchrotron building with a new single ply membrane together with solar photovoltaic cells.
