The Steels and Metals Institute (SaMI) at Swansea University currently have a 25 year old Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) furnace that is capable of melting a single 60 kg ingot or two 28 kg ingots. In order to advance our research capability in melting and casting, a new VIM furnace is required to replace/operate alongside the current VIM Furnace. SaMI require a new modern designed and built furnace with melting capacity up to 50kg to enhance our melting and casting facilities
