Descriptions
The works will involve ground investigation (GI) cable percussion boreholes, rotary core holes, Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT), hand-held window sampling, trial pitting and geophysical surveying along the length of existing embankments in the town of Tralee, County Kerry. Ground investigation positions have also been scheduled in areas where it is likely that new flood defences will be constructed in the future. The purpose of the ground investigation is to assess the condition of the existing embankments, determine the suitability of the existing embankments to withstand a future major flood event and to assess the ground conditions in areas where future defences are likely to be constructed.
