These changes are part of the UK Government's "Simpler Recycling" initiative, which aims to increase recycling rates and reduce landfill dependence.
Chesterfield Borough Council is now legally required to implement a separate weekly food waste collection service for households by 31 March 2026. The Council must provide each household with a food waste containers: a small 7-litre internal caddy for communal properties, and a larger 23-litre caddy for individual residences. Furthermore, Chesterfield Borough Council is looking for the supply and delivery of Two and Four - Wheeled bins.
