Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is looking to appoint a developer to undertake the redevelopment of a central site in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The Council was successful in securing funding from Homes England to accelerate construction for new homes, a key requirement of which is to deliver schemes at pace utilising, where possible Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). The Council seeks to use this funding by developing a residential scheme on brownfield site located to the north of Welwyn Garden City's town centre. The site is currently a large car park containing an upper car parking deck, and two garage blocks, which will be demolished prior to contract. In addition to the residential scheme, improvements to the existing pedestrian connections, improved public realm and associated landscaping should also be delivered within the development site. Scheme designs will need to take into consideration the existing townscape setting of the site and adhere to the guiding design and planning documents produced by the Council, which have been consulted on by key stakeholders.
