EU Skills Waste Management Safety, Health, Environmental Awarness (SHEA) Trainer Approval Programme

The programme aims to identify, train and approve 10 individual trainers (not organisations) to deliver EU Skills' new Safety, Health, Environmental Awareness (SHEA) training programme in the Waste Management industry.The training programmes involves participants participating in a one-day (7 hour) course, following which their knowledge in relation to health and safety in the waste management sector will be assessed, and those who meet the required standard will be issued with an EUSR Card which records their SHEA accreditation. The EUSR is affiliated to the CSCS card used in the construction industry.The trainer approval programme will involve trainers participating in a one day 'train the trainer' course on the 2nd of November 2010. Each trainer will then (on further dates to be agreed) individually deliver the EU Skills Waste Management SHEA course to 3 groups of participants - each group will consist of 10 delegates. The trainers performance will be monitored during this period by an independant assessor. Final approval of a trainer to deliver the programme going forward will take place during and at the end of the 3rd event.Participants will be expected to contribute towards the cost of the train the trainer programme - 50% if from a large organisation or 30% if an SME.There are only 10 funded places available on the programme. If more than 10 meet the essential criteria, the desirable criteria will be used to select the 10 trainers who be included in the funded programme. Those participants who meet the criteria and are not selected for the programme will still be eligible to work through a train the trainer programme, but without funding support.
