FSNI Service Calibration, Repair and Consumables for Laser Equipment

Descriptions

Forensic Science Northern Ireland (FSNI) is an Agency within the Department of Justice, responsible for the provision of impartial scientific advice and support, to enhance the Criminal Justice System. FSNI has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to manage the return of the PSNI’s speed metering equipment to the manufacturer for repair and calibration. FSNI do not procure the handheld lasers as this activity is undertaken by the PSNI. This DAC will cover the costs associated with the repair and calibration of these hand held speed metering devices and relates only to the service calibration and repair by the manufacturer. This will be a 3 year DAC to enable the PSNI to test the market for alternative devices to the current solution. FSNI will use the length of this DAC to transfer responsibility for the calibration, servicing and repair of the devices to the PSNI. This will allow sufficient time for the PSNI to establish a new contract directly with the manufacturer, or test the market for a new hand held speed metering device to fully meet the needs of Roads Policing.
