This service will facilitate the timely review of all patients who are in receipt of continence appliances by either a stoma or continence specialist nurse advisor. This model has been used in other parts of the country and made the following benefits:— Improving quality of life for patients with continence and stoma conditions. E.g. patients being housebound due to poor incontinence equipment or outdated methods.— Reducing repeat prescribing for equipment that patients do not want or use.— Ensuring appropriate usage of equipment, e.g. patients using intermittent catheters for up to two years that should have stopped 1-2 weeks post-surgery.— Minimising waste through inappropriate quantities being prescribed.
