HCC 11/17 - Provision of Independent Mediation and Disagreement Resolution Services

Descriptions

The Children and Families Act 2014 provides the opportunity for both parents/carers and young people to access mediation before they can register an appeal with the First-Tier Tribunal (Special Education Needs and Disability) in order to promote early resolution of disputes through non-judicial means. For parents and carers of children with special education needs and/or disability (SEND) and for young people with SEND, the service will provide independent and neutral support to achieve early and informal resolution to disagreement through both: o An independent mediation service o An independent disagreement resolution service
