Penllergare Walled Garden Masonry Contract

Descriptions

The Trustees of the Penllergare Trust wishes to appoint a Principal Contractor to carry out a programme of restoration works to the remaining masonry structures within the historic Walled Garden, and oversee the reinstatement of the Vinery structure. The work is part of the Phase 2 National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported project at Penllergare Valley Woods. The Woods are located in the Country Park and Gardens, on the A48 between Penllergare and Llangefelach.This project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), will enable Penllergare Trust to conserve, restore and re-invigorate the nationally important historic designed landscape, working with the local community and project partners. The project includes partial restoration of the Walled Garden containing a Vinery and Orchid House (both Scheduled Ancient Monuments), and the creation of a new multi-use visitor / retail centre with associated interpretation and staff office accommodation. This will provide opportunities for sustainable income streams to support the long-term management and maintenance of the site.
