Sustainable Blue Economies

Descriptions

The project will undertake research in support of a MMO initiative aimed at providing technical assistance to the Government of Belize. The purpose of the project is to set out a costed Roadmap and Terms of Reference (ToR) for reinstating the Managed Access Committees (MACs), with sustainable and long-term practices in place, in which the government and fishing communities will be re-engaged in an accessible and inclusive way to help rebuild trust, sustain livelihoods and strengthen stewardship in Belize's fisheries.

This project will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1 involved engaging stakeholders based in the South of Belize. This engagement was conducted by the MMO in November 2025. The second part of the project will be delivered from January to March 2026 by the successful contractor. The stakeholder engagement element will be conducted in February 2026 and will focus on stakeholders based in the North of Belize, the Islands
