Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Highland and Islands Enterprise and is taking an innovative approach to supporting the commercialisation of the wave energy sector until the technical and commercial risks are low enough for the private sector to re-enter the sector.WES, established by the Scottish Government in 2014, has committed almost 39 000 000 GBP to 86 projects across the sector, in areas which have been prioritised as requiring the most development and/or having the most impact on the future cost of energy.
