West Limerick Resources CLG intends to undertake a regional food sector development initiative over a 15-month period covering the West Limerick Area. West Limerick Resources are seeking the services of a training facilitator/group with extensive experience in the Irish food sector to facilitate the roll out of training in West Limerick with the aim of developing and promoting artisan, micro, and small food businesses in the area. This is expected to be a programme of Food Destination Development. The initiative aims to enable the region to benefit from other agency initiatives, including: the Shannon Estuary Way, the Great Southern Greenway, the Limerick Branding, as well as any developments on the Limerick Food Strategy, among others ie Failte Ireland and Bord Bia strategies. The basis of the Training Programme has been formed in an earlier ‘Phase One’ programme of Training where participants learned to develop an identity for the region’s food tourism and promote it. It is expected that the recommendations and learnings from the previous phase be considered when agreeing a final training programme with West Limerick Resources.
