Provision of Technical Support for Technical Review of Defence Standards (DEFSTANS)

FLAP are required by MOD for use in equipment and platforms across each of the FLCs. It is therefore critical to ensure that all product specifications used within Defence are fit for purpose. This is achieved by ensuring that robust assurance mechanisms are in place, during both the procurement cycle and the subsequent introduction to service. Individual product requirements are defined by Defence Standards (DEFSTAN), which in-turn are informed by NATO Standards Agreements (STANAG). Consequently, failure to review and update these standards, in line with the emergent commercial market, may result in unavailability of endorsed products and/or proliferation of OEM proprietary branded products within the MOD inventory.
