Tree Health and Vitality Assessment using Hyperspectral Remote Sensing

Descriptions

Network Rail would like to effectively manage the risk of ash die back and other diseased trees. A PoC has been developed to demonstrate how hyperspectral imagery combined with LiDAR data can be used in analytical models to detect the location, health and vitality of trees (i.e. severity of disease and risk of falling) and a moderate upscaling is being carried out to further test it in different environmental conditions, validation and ground-truthing before it can be deployed. Network Rail would like to deploy a tool at a National Scale, to enable a nationwide tool to manage the risk.
