Supply, Delivery and Commissioning of a De-powdering Unit
Descriptions
The University of Strathclyde seeks notes of interest from suppliers able to provide a de-powering unit. The Advanced Forming Research Centre/National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland is considering the purchase of a de-powdering unit. The de-powdering unit would be supporting equipment within the Laser Beam – Powder Bed Fusion (LB-PBF) facility that shall be housed at the centre. The purpose of a de-powdering unit is to remove unfused loose powder from the surface as well as accessible interior channels of an additive manufactured part. All the necessary processing steps should be carried out within a safe and secure enclosed chamber. The de-powdering unit is expected to work specifically for metallic parts and therefore should be able to handle fine metal powders. The unit must have the necessary safety ratings so that it can handle combustible metal powders such as Titanium. The de-powdering unit is expected to be on site by the end of Jan-2021.
