Expressions of Interest for the Future Provision of Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Services Across Derbyshire for the Provision of Male and Female Block Beds and Spot Purchase Beds

Descriptions

NHS Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (DDCCG) are inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified providers capable of delivering Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) services across Derbyshire for the provision of up to 12 male and 4 female block beds and spot purchase beds, to the patients registered with member GP Practices of NHS Derby and Derbyshire CCG for which they are the responsible commissioner. Commissioners are reviewing their current services in line with national guidance to abide by the continuity of care principles (COCPs) (see attachment for details). Proximity to local services is crucial with regard to meeting the practical application of CoCPs. Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (DHcFT) is in the process of developing minimum expectations for continuity of care from its clinicians into PICU placements for Derbyshire patients. These standards will be shared with with potential providers as they are agreed over the next 2 months.
